I WILL DO SOMETHING AGAINST MY MORALS OR BELIEFS

Untrue.
First, no person can be hypnotized against his or her will. The subject must be 100 percent cooperative.

Under hypnosis the subject is very aware of where s/he is and what is happening. The subject hears everything and is in a day dream like state of deep relaxation.

Second, no one under hypnosis can be made to do anything they would not freely do if not under hypnosis.

You have the power to select only the suggestions you are willing to accept and will reject any improper suggestions and would not do anything you would not normally do if you felt relaxed about the situation.

If a client were given a suggestion s/he did not agree with, s/he would simply refuse, laugh at it or awaken (regain normal consciousness).

ONLY WEAK MINDED PEOPLE CAN BE HYPNOTIZED

Untrue.
The more intelligent a person is, the easier it is to hypnotize him or her.

A HYPNOTIZED PERSON IS IN A TRANCE OR IS UNCONSCIOUS

Untrue.
Under hypnosis, the subject is awake and aware-extremely so. The hypnotized subject has merely focused his or her attention to where the hypnotist directs it.

A PERSON CAN GET “STUCK” IN HYPNOSIS

Untrue.
This is completely false. Even if the operator dropped dead after putting the subject under deep hypnosis, the subject would come out of the hypnosis easily. The subject would either slip into a brief sleep and then awaken normally, or open his or her eyes when the operator's voice had not been heard for some time.

DEEP HYPNOSIS IS NECESSARY FOR GOOD RESULTS

Untrue.
Any level of hypnosis from light to very deep can bring good results.

A few words about STAGE HYPNOSIS

When one's acquaintance with hypnotism is limited to what he has seen on the stage, his ideas about hypnosis and hypnotism are incorrect.

The public entertainer is interested in laughs, and when he employs hypnotism, he gets his laughs by making his subjects look and act like puppets.

The volunteers are usually under the influence of alcohol and have come to the show for the purpose of relaxing, acting silly and having a good time, therefore, they are easily encouraged to do so.

Because inhibitions are often reduced under hypnosis, the subject is more likely to experience their inner character traits and motivations.

Clinical Hypnotherapy is very different from Stage Hypnosis in nearly every aspect.
